Sometimes a woman needs another woman to lean on, to draw strength from, to share her secrets with. Someone who knows the dark moments of her past and loves her anyway. Someone to tell her the truth, even when it stings. Someone to pray for her. Someone to remind her that God still loves her.
Wealthy women, middle class women, young, old, and everything in between. Women with jobs. Women raising their families along side of empty nesters. Women with dreams for their futures and hurts that haunt their past. My stories are about ordinary women with extraordinary faith, sisters of the heart if not by blood, bound together by the ties of Christ’s “forever family”.
Ordinary women, extraordinary faith.
Those are the stories I tell.
But that’s me now, how about then?
I’m not going to lie to you. I didn’t grow up wanting to be a writer, but I think I was born with a library card clutched in my tiny little fist.
I’ve always had a love for books and stories. I can remember very clearly sitting in my kindergarten class next to a child who was crying. I have a book open in front of me and even though I couldn’t read, I was telling him a story about the pictures. That boy became my first kiss, but we won’t go there!
I look back now and I think God had me in training. Teaching me to love words and stories, and even after I heard the first nudge from Him that he had a writer’s path picked out for me, still He waited, allowing me to grow and experience all the ups and downs, loves and hates, friendships and betrayals, messy baggage and joyous freedom that comes from sixty years of living.
Then one day, when His time was right, He allowed a new friend to speak a word of reminder and encouragement into my heart. And, here we are. My head full of voices, my heart full of stories, and my fingers itching to get them on to paper, hoping that you will find something meaningful in the pages of one of my books.
I’d love to hear from you if you did.
So, what do I do when I’m not writing? I live in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma, with my husband and a couple of large dogs. My husband and I have 6 children between us, 24 grandchildren and their spouses, and 8 great grands. When I’m not busy with my family I like to bake, read, and travel.
